Learn to Crochet

Crochet 101: Students will learn the beginning chain, single crochet, and double crochet, how to read a pattern, and how to choose the right materials. At the end of the class you’ll have a completed wash cloth.

Shaping Basics: Winter is coming and you’ll need a good hat to be ready. Learn the basics of crocheting a hat and techniques for making a specific shape and adding a flower embellishment. Bring your own Yarn, Bring your own Hook.

Amigurumi Ahoy: Learn the skills you need to take your stuffed animals from basic to brilliant. Learn magic loop, invisible increases and decreases, simple embroidery, and how to stuff your crocheted animals so they’re both huggable and durable. Some supplies included, Bring your own Hook.

Learn to Knit

Knitting 101: You’ll learn how to hold your needles and cast on and bind off a project, as well as the first two basic stitches, knit and purl. Select the right materials, knit a gauge swatch, and learn how to read a pattern. Leave the class with a finished washcloth.

Baby’s First Blanket: The perfect project to learn how to increase and decrease stitches.

Pick out your yarn from a selection of washable bulky-weight fibres that knit up quickly for a satisfying project. Bring your own Needles.

Sockspiration: Work on double-pointed needles to create a basic sock that’s perfect for inside of boots, or wearing around the house on chilly days. You’ll need to know how to knit and purl already. New skills include slip-slip-knit, knit-front-and-back, and the Kitchener stitch. Bring your own Needles, Bring your own Yarn.

Drop in Days

Stitching Social: Every Wednesday from 6-8 pm and Thursday from 1-3 pm, join us for knitting, crocheting, or whatever your fibre fancy. Strengthen your skills, meet new people, and share your ideas in a supportive and social environment. Everyone is welcome to this FREE event.

Learn the Next Stitch: Anything goes in this class! If you’re already comfortable with the basics of knitting (knit and purl stitch) or crochet (chain and single crochet) and you want to take the next step, this is the class for you. Bring along your advanced beginner or intermediate project and we’ll help you through it! Bring your own Yarn, Bring your own Hook/Needles. This is a private lesson and can be customized to suit your needs.

One of A Kind Classes

We often offer special, one-of-a-kind classes and workshops. Below you’ll find some examples of the types of classes we offer. Basket Weaving: this one afternoon class will teach you the basic techniques of basket weaving and you’ll go home with a lovely star shaped Christmas ornament just in time to start your holiday decorating.

Skill Level: Absolute Beginner
Cost: $15 – all supplies included

Needle Felting: Learn how to create an adorable needle felted miniature sheep in this 2 hour class. Local artist, Renee LaBute, will be teaching us all the skills required to complete this project. All materials and felting needles required for this project are included in your course fee.
